"My personal career at Loesche"

After studying Economics, majoring in Human Resources and Controlling, I was given the opportunity in 2007 to take over personnel development at Loesche GmbH; a position with a broad scope of action and a great deal of responsibility.

Thanks to the personal familiarisation by Ms. Krebs, our head of HR, I soon became acquainted with the processes at Loesche GmbH and was able to contribute my own ideas and suggestions to improve the department, which gave me and still gives me a great deal of satisfaction.

Besides the actual work in personnel development, I was able to leverage the results of my degree thesis as member of a project team formed to develop and implement an in-house HR Management System that would introduce transparent, performance-oriented remuneration and individual development opportunities. We were all very pleased when the project was brought to a successful conclusion in the summer of 2009.

Also in 2009, I was given the opportunity to head the company's personnel recruitment and development team. This new managerial post was a great but also interesting challenge, in which I was supported by the focused training and development measures in the Loesche Management Development Program.

Today, my team and I are pleased to welcome you as an applicant to Loesche GmbH and perhaps in the near future also helping you to plan your personal career!

"Development possibilities as a manager"

After studying Business Administration at Aachen University of Technology, I started a six-month internship in the Quality Assurance and Management department in October 2005 with the intention of writing my degree thesis there. During the course of this thesis, I was given the opportunity to develop and expand my practical and technical knowledge through trips abroad and supplier visits. This enabled me to see not only individual parts and components but also a complete grinding mill in action at a cement works. Until then, I had only seen these components in drawings or pictures.

After graduating in September 2006, I moved from the Quality Assurance and Management department to Procurement, where I started as a purchaser for B/C parts. B and C parts are smaller components and assemblies in our machines such as transducers.

Here I benefited greatly from what I had already learned during my internship because I had encountered many of the components during my visits to suppliers. This enabled me to develop a better feel for dimensions, weights and also qualities and lead times.

After successfully completing an Assessment Centre in November 2009, I was able to take over the post of After Sales Purchaser in January 2010. After Sales is part of Customer Support and supports, for example, the converting and modifying of old grinding mills, but also sells complete smaller mills. This new post was a new and interesting challenge, and I was grateful for the mentor system during the early phase.

As recognition for my past achievements at Loesche GmbH and thanks to the great trust shown by managers, I am now taking part in a Management Development Program, which provides optimum preparation for my future challenges. So there is nothing blocking the next step in my career.

"Career start as work student"

During my master's degree course as a sales engineer majoring in energy and process engineering, I worked as a work student at the Customer Support headed by Mr. Thomas Leppak.

My responsibilities increased steadily and I was entrusted with responsible and demanding tasks. This gave me an excellent insight into the day-to-day work and I was able to apply what I had learned during my courses. I was given every opportunity to contribute my own ideas and suggestions. I was warmly accepted by all employees and colleagues and always given the feeling that I was an employee just like any other.

The company also gave me the opportunity to write my masters thesis on the topic of Customer Relationship Management within the company. In 2010 I was offered a full-time job at Loesche GmbH Customer Support. From what I had learned as a work student about Loesche products, the corporate structure and the process flows, I was able to be deployed straight away after graduating.

Today, I look after my own customers, offering them tailored solutions and so meet their wishes and needs.

"Studying and career at Loesche"

Having started my studies of Business Administration, it was important for me to simultaneously gather practical experience in order to put the theory of my daily studies into practice right away. Luckily, I was accepted at Loesche GmbH as a trainee student during my first semester. I started working in the “recruiting and development” department where I learned a lot about the day-to-day work within the first few months. This helped me to a great degree during the course of my studies.

Presently I am responsible for the implementation of SAP software in the Human Resource Department and I also work on some very interesting projects on a national as well as an international basis. The planned implementation of SAP in the international subsidiaries of Loesche GmbH gave me the opportunity to gain some initial experience in the field of “Corporate Human Resources”.

To me, Loesche GmbH is special as there is a strong emphasis to support young and inexperienced staff members and to give them jobs with a high amount of individual responsibility right from the beginning. My bosses, Ms. Silke Krebs and Mr. Christian Trzeczak, who are themselves relatively young, bring forward in me an intense degree of proactive working and responsibility – which is not very common and which I very much appreciate to experience as a trainee student.

„A lateral career move“:

After completing my "Abitur" (the German school-leaving certificate, permitting entry to a university), I apprenticed as a cabinet maker, subsequently finishing my academic studies at the RWTH in Aachen in the field of architecture and urban planning. Thereafter, I have been successfully employed as a "Diplom-Ingenieur" (Chartered Engineer). However, I was not very pleased with the working conditions in the construction industry. Therefore, in 2007, I started investigating development opportunities in other industry sectors. Thus, I came across the profession of "Technical Editor".

At that time, Loesche was looking for support in the area of Technical Communication in order to establish a training centre in their Customer Service department. I was given the opportunity to enter their internship and further my education as Technical Editor. In addition to Loesche's internal training, I was permitted to participate in external professional development courses with a private educational institution called "tecteam".

It did not take long for me to realise that I enjoyed my new profession very much, and I knew that I had made the right decision, making that lateral career move. After receiving my certificate from "tekom", I finished my internship in 2009. Subsequently, I was offered a staff position as Technical Editor in Loesche's Training Center.

My responsibilities in the Training Center are very diversified: I am engaged in researching and preparing a great variety of technical contents for in-house and external training documentation, for eLearing courses, and for customer documentation.
Engagement, creative thinking, and suggestions are always welcome here; and that is what my department manger Ms. Doris Bruns constantly promotes. This allows me to set my own goals. And so far, I could always select, express, and implement my objectives. This way, I focussed on and familiarised myself with the subject matter of terminology. Now, I am ready to accept the position as Project Manager for Terminology and Translation Management.
